ONTARIO, Calif., December 9, 2025 (WELLNESS INTERVIEWS) — Healthcare organization Prime Healthcare has announced that its system president and chief medical officer, Dr. Sunny Bhatia, has been named to Modern Healthcare’s 2025 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare list.

The recognition highlights leaders whose decisions and impact shape the direction of the U.S. healthcare industry. Bhatia, who serves as the first physician to hold both titles in Prime’s 25-year history, oversees a national system of 51 hospitals and more than 360 outpatient locations across 14 states.

Bhatia’s tenure has included organizational expansion, including the 2025 acquisition and integration of eight hospitals and affiliated care sites in Illinois. The transaction kept multiple facilities at risk of closure in operation, supported local employment, and added systemwide investments in clinical infrastructure and modernization, according to the company.

His leadership has also included initiatives involving electronic medical record expansion, AI-enabled clinical workflows, virtual care, cardiovascular program development, and geriatric emergency certification efforts.
